Leatherbound Reviews: Lucky 13 by Cat Gardiner + Giveaway!!

Wow!  There is so much to be thankful for.  Well known and respected blogger, review and editor, Jakki Leatherberry has generously invited me to visit Leatherbound Reviews.

Stop on by her holiday festive site and read my guest post on friendship and Lucky 13.  I'm simply over the moon!  Also there is a groovy giveaway - something different to take part in!

Leatherbound Reviews: Lucky 13 by Cat Gardiner + Giveaway!!: I cannot begin to express how excited I am to have author Cat Gardiner visiting Leatherbound Reviews today. From what little we have been talking online, I can tell she has a heart of gold, cares deeply for others, and would make a totally rockin' friend.   Just the other day, I began reading Lucky 13, and let me just say, this is a book I do not want to put down. We are leaving today for the weekend, and I still have yet to pack the kids' clothes or mine, and it is all because I do not want to stop reading Liz and Darcy's story.

Today, Cat talks about friendship and its role in her life and in Lucky 13. Cat is also offering a copy of Lucky 13 for you to win for your dear friend. See below for more details!...

Thank you Jakki for inviting me on this Thanksgiving Day to share with you and your friends and giving me the opportunity to make new one!  I hope this holiday is very special for you and yours.   Hugs ~Cat

Stop the Presses ... This Just In!

~~Dearest Friends~~
Authored by Pamela Lynne

This variation begins after the Netherfield group leaves post- ball.  It is also where it deviates from canon.  Darcy and Elizabeth meet unexpectedly in London where they are able to reach an understanding much sooner.  Many of the prejudices have been resolved by others before they meet again in the shopping district of London. It is an adventure in order to elope, but can it really be considered an elopement as most of the family is accompanying the couple?

This was by far, one of my favorite regency retellings, the story was great and exceptionally well written.  However, I have to admit I was especially drawn to this variation by the dialogue and actions of the characters.

E & D are true to canon at the end of the original, since they have resolved their issues early.

But, while I LOVE a pleasant, loving ODC, it is the secondary characters that enthralled this reader.

Mr. Bennet is just bad, but you will have to read about that. Jane is not worthy of Elizabeth’s dirty petticoat, she’s a jealous narcissist. Mary is truly a blessing.

Darcy soon learns that, although in trade, the Gardiners are a force to be reckoned with in London society, even Lord Matlock can’t deny their power.

Mostly, I loved the Fitzwilliam/Darcy family.  There is a chapter where Darcy invited Elizabeth and the Gardiners to dinner to meet the extended family that made me laugh until I was crying, seriously!

And, you will never guess who does the Hunsford speech, but I’m not going to tell!  It was a first for me, and it worked so well.

My only complaint is that I could have read so much more of this story, and that a certain couple didn’t end up together.  However, I am sure that if we bug her enough, Pam will compose a part 2, where that will be resolved, and everyone can have their HEA.

This variation should definitely be put on everyone’s TBR list, I give it a rousing thumbs up!  Amazon Link: Dearest Friends
